Part II

Normal Resolutions of V7

v7-examples

Except for the second inversion of V7, resolutions of the chord's different positions arise from the normal resolution of the tritone.

In the second inversion, the fifth of the chord is in the bass. It can move downwards to a root position I chord, or it can move up by step to a I6 chord.

If the second inversion V7chord moves to I6, the subdominant pitch present in V7 resolves up by step. This is called a Rising Resolution of the Subdominant, or RRSD, for short.
