Grade 3 Harmony Prerequisites

To be successful with S.A.T.B. part writing, one needs a strong foundation in music rudiments, including familiarity with:

  • reading and writing in both treble and bass clefs
  • intervals up to the 15th
  • all major and minor key signatures
  • triad, and dominant-seventh chord construction, including inversions
  • harmonic cadences
  • condensed vocal score
  • and music terminology
